Look out in early October for four concerts from St. George’s, Bristol, and one from Colston Hall, also in Bristol, with compositions from Johannes Brahms. According to Presenter, Tom Service, ‘we’re going behind the beard to the seething passions of the man it so expertly disguised. That intensity of feeling, that pain and joy is all there in the music – we just have to hear it,’ .
The Colston Hall concert will be orchestral and include the Double Concerto in A minor with the St George’s concert featuring German Requiem with accompaniment from two pianos. Pianist Stephen Kovacevich will also be playing pieces from Bach and Beethoven.
Essays accompanying the concerts will be given by Dr Natasha Loges and Lesley Chamberlain, contextualising the concerts throughout the week. More details as follows:
