Piano Shop Bath team member Edward Bettella is also a piano teacher and composer. He will be performing the première of his new work for piano and cello Sunset Fan/Sunset Flood, on Thursday 27 August 2015, at St Swithin’s church, Bath.
Sunset Fan/Sunset Flood started as two poems of the same name written by writer James Roy Blair Anderson, with whom Edward has previously collaborated with on the choral piece Dust.
Sunset Fan/Sunset Flood is a suite for cello and piano in 4 movements, inspired by the words of the poems. The suite can be performed by itself, but it can also be performed alongside the spoken word.
Edward will be joined by Jon Stabler on cello, and they will also be performing pieces from the repertoire, including Martinu’s evocative Variations on a Slovakian Theme, plus pieces from Mozart, Rachmaninoff, Chopin and Bach.
Tickets are available in advance via Edward’s website. The cost is £5, and you can also turn up on the night and pay on the door. Doors open 7:30pm.
