Kawai Musical Instruments was founded in Hamamatsu, Japan, in 1927. The company was founded to further the development of the piano through advances in technology. To this day, Kawai acoustic and digital pianos are renowned for their technologically advanced design, reflected in the company’s slogan, ‘The Future of the Piano’.
We like Kawai acoustic pianos for their high quality of construction, their well-rounded, clear tone and refined, responsive touch and the ten-year guarantee. One of our favourite features of is the ‘Millennium III’ keyboard action. Most piano actions have an entirely wooden mechanism, Kawai include ‘ABS Carbon’ components which are lighter and stiffer, making the action much more responsive without being overly light. We find the Millennium III action a delight to play and the full, well-rounded tone makes Kawai pianos world class.
Kawai are one of only two manufacturers of digital pianos who also build acoustic instruments and we certainly find the piano sounds and ‘Advanced Hammer’ keyboard actions of their digital pianos to be the most refined and realistic of any digital instruments we’ve played. From the simple, compact CL26 to the powerful, versatile and portable ES7, the digital piano range represents unrivalled choice, quality and value.
