On July 27th, the Somerset Chamber Choir are joined by the Southern Sinfonia in Wells’ spectacular cathedral for a programme of evocative music on the theme of ‘Last Words’. Two of Mozart’s last works, the haunting Requiem and the well-known miniature work Ave Verum Corpus, are paired with two compositions by James MacMillan, In Splendoribus Sanctorum and Seven Last Words From the Cross. This event promises to be a tantalising mix of beautiful and affecting music and the breathtaking architectural splendour of the Cathedral itself. The concert will feature Ruby Hughes (soprano), Helen Sherman (mezzo), Andrew Tortise (tenor) and Callum Thorpe (bass).
