The Piano Shop Bath enjoyed another great gig over in Bristol, this time at the Colston Hall. The Staves played the penultimate gig on their UK tour in Bristol for an enthusiastic crowd. The British born sisters who form the group known as The Staves showcased their immaculate harmonies for an appreciative audience before heading to London to play their final show at the Roundhouse.
In Bristol the three sisters lush vocal harmonies and were accompanied, at various points, by the guitar, ukulele, keyboard, drums and harmonium. One of the standout songs for us was ‘sadness don’t own me’ which occurred, naturally, on the keyboard. The Staves current album was recorded in Wisconsin with Justin Vernon of Bon Iver fame. Despite, or maybe because, it was recorded in wintry Wisconsin the music exudes a protective warmth that provided the perfect back drop to a chilly November night. On the whole another very enjoyable evening for the piano shop bath at Bristol’s Colston Hall.
