At the Piano Shop Bath we restore pianos from all over the country, but some of these of these are not necessarily upper end grand pianos like Steinway or Bluthner. Often we help people restore their treasured compact upright or a late Victorian upright piano, often because these pianos hold a sentimental value: it can be their design or just the unique tone that piano may have. Whatever the piano may be, we are on hand to provide expert, free advice and options for all budgets.
We regularly stock a good selection of restored, vintage pianos because there is still a great demand for them. Here are some reasons why these vintage upright pianos still hold their charm in the modern market:
- Often these piano are hand built by highly skilled craftsmen and still hold up well for their age.
- Recycling. Some of these older pianos were so well made and used such high quality parts that they still have many years left in them. We’ve often seen 100 year old loop chords on an old bechstein piano that still work perfectly.
- These old pianos have history, stories and secrets. These pianos have endured through the whole of the 19th century and retained their timeless appeal. Once restored these pianos can continue to inspire for many years to come.
