We are very fortunate at The Piano Shop Bath as we currently have a 1978 Bosendorfer Grand piano in our piano showroom. This wonderful instrument has been sympathetically restored by our technicians and features a complete restring, frame reguild and case repolish. Bosendorfer is one of the worlds oldest piano manufacturers, the company has been building pianos since 1828. It has a long history of producing very highly regarded pianos and each Bosendorfer is still hand built by highly skilled craftsmen in Austria. This is a really wonderful example of a 170 Bosendorfer grand piano and definately worth a visit, as it is relatively uncommon to come across Bosendorfers in the pre owned piano market.
How does the Bosendorfer tone compare to a Steinway?
It is also a good opportunity to see how it compares alongside the restored Steinway Grand that sits beside it. The characteristic tonal quality of the Bosendorfer is sometimes described as darker and richer than the clear, flawless Steinway tone and it is certainly interesting to see how the two measure up side by side. I would say that the Bosendorfer tone on this piano does sound more full bodied than the purer sound of the Steinway. As to which is better?… that would be a very personal decision and an individual choice. Why not come and explore the restored, classic grand pianos we have in The Piano Shop Bath? our high end grands, like the Steinway and the Bosendorfer are sure to please even the most discerning of pianists.
