Last weekend the Piano Shop Bath proudly took part in the Great Bath Bake Sale at Bath Abbey. Local business’ and organisations in Bath were invited by Bath Abbey to bake cakes for sale, raising funds for Bath Abbey’s Footprint project plus local branches of Foodcycle and Fareshare.
The Piano Shop Bath is no stranger to Bath Abbey, regularly moving their beautiful Steinway concert grand piano on to the stage for concerts. However on Saturday 18th October 2014, the Abbey was transformed into a heaving market place, with Bathonians and tourists cramming in to see the cakes that had been baked by numerous local business’ and organisations. The output was truly amazing and of a very high quality, with many passers by commenting that they wanted to do the full circuit before spending their money, so difficult was the choice!
We were delighted to be sharing a table with Bonham’s auctioneers, who had been very astute in offering some savoury treats in addition to cakes. Their Turkey and stuffing pie was gone in a flash! As for us, we offered customers cakes on a music related theme, of course! Gingerbread biscuits shaped as quavers, sticky iced bun piano keys (with the option of black or white icing) and muffins with edible music notes! Hopefully the pictures will give you some idea of our offerings.
It was a great pleasure to take part and demonstrated how enthusiastic people in Bath were at getting together to raise money for a good cause. The day was undoubtedly a resounding success, not just for the money raised, but also for the buzz it brought to Bath Abbey on that lovely Saturday afternoon.
