The Piano Shop Bath has just supplied a Yamaha upright piano for an evening event with Clare Teal on behalf of a charity event hosted by St John`s Hospital in Bath.
Originally established by Bishop Reginald Fitzjocelyn in the late 12th century, as a refuge for the poor and needy, today St John’s Hospital is one of the UK’s oldest and most respected almshouse charities. Six city centre almshouses, and one at Combe Park, close to the RUH, provide sheltered accommodation for over 100 Bath residents, who are elderly and financially disadvantaged.
In addition, St John’s dispenses Community and Individual Grants within the city; last year around 29,000 people living in Bath benefitted these schemes.
As part of a fundraising auction and dinner held at Highgrove in the summer, to raise further funds for the work of the grant giving teams, there will be a special performance by Clare Teal, generously donated by the renowned jazz singer. Clare has become a household name through her work for the BBC and on the concert circuit.
The successful bidders and their guests will enjoy the unique hospitality of St John’s Hospital, after the concert in the exclusive and intimate setting of St Michael’s Within, the charity’s city centre Chapel.
