This magnificent, newly restored Steinway & Sons piano has been finished in a beautiful Chinoiserie design inspired by traditional 18th Century techniques. We wanted to create a show stopping piece to take pride of place in a traditional large drawing room with gilded panelling.

Chinoiserie is a celebrated decorative style in western art, furniture and architecture. Mostly from the 18th Century, it is characterised by Chinese motifs and techniques, a rich and exotic style of decoration which lends itself perfectly to the classic Steinway piano. The surface uses a base of coloured glazes topped with hand painted birds and flower motifs composed for each panel. Antiqued gold leaf has then been applied specifically to enhance the architecture of the mouldings and flutes, to match the gilded interior surroundings.

The exceptional sound quality of the piano combined with its intricate surface design make it a truly bespoke piece.
