The client asked for a bespoke piano to fit a vibrant and beautifully lit Moroccan inspired interior space. Influenced by the eclectic patterns and colours of traditional kilims, this piano builds up many layers of detail to produce an overall rich and complex design that suits its surroundings perfectly. Inspiration has been developed from research into carpets from Persia, Dagestan, Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria and each pattern has been customised to create a truly individual design.

The patterns were created by painting through card stencils which were individually cut by hand. Each pattern has been built up by painting in three or four layers of colour to give a rich, textured effect. The finished pattern work was then distressed and sealed with a tinted varnish. By adding a painted age over the pattern we were able to build up vibrancy and depth. This unique art piano could work in a wide range of colourways and could be adapted to fit any interior.
