Swindon Arts Centre will be hosting a series of concerts this season, as part of Swindon Recital Series.
On Friday 9 October, pianist Paul Turner presents a program entitles ‘Mozart’s Keyboard’, featuring highlights of the great composers’ work for solo piano.
The series then moves to then moves to the Wyvern Theatre for a lunchtime concert on Wednesday 4 November. Here Paul teams up with mezzo soprano Maria Jagusz for a program entitled ‘Brahms to Broadway’. Maria’s background includes working for the Royal Opera House, Opera North, Glydebourne and Sadlers Wells as well as significant oratorio and concert work. This will be an eclectic program of songs ranging from the art songs of Brahms and Chopin, through Spanish song to Porter and Sondheim.
Paul then returns to Swindon Arts Centre on Saturday 21 November, with ‘Villiers Quartet’, a string quartet whose debut CD received 5-stars in Classical Music Magazine and who have recorded the soundtrack to the BBC television drama, Lady Chatterley’s Lover. This program will feature Borodin’s quartet No.2 and the exciting Schumann Piano Quintet.
