Here at Piano Shop Bath, we’re no stranger to specialist jobs. So, when we were asked to ship a Steinway to Singapore, we jumped at the chance to help.
We bought and completely restored the aging instrument, which was manufactured in Germany in 1927. With its black gloss finish, new strings and re-felted hammers, the Steinway Model R is now beautiful to play.
The make and model of this timeless upright is the same as two aboard the ill-fated Titanic, installed along with a Steinway Model B to entertain the ship’s first-class passengers. We’re happy to report no such misfortune befell our instrument, which was shipped by air to our client in Singapore.
As the tallest of the Steinway uprights, weighing in at just under 400kg, the model R is no longer manufactured, nor is it easy to move! It now sits proudly in its brand new home, almost 7,000 miles from Bath.
