Founded in Berlin in 1853, C. Bechstein is one of the world’s longest established and most highly esteemed piano manufacturers, and one of the ‘Big Four’ builders: Steinway, Bosendorfer, Bechstein and Bluthner. Bechstein pianos were favoured by pianists and composers from Franz Liszt to Oscar Peterson and from Freddie Mercury to Claude Debussy, who said: ‘Piano music should only be written for the Bechstein’.
High quality German pianos from 1880 to 1940 are among the finest ever made, and are of such quality that, after a thorough restoration by our dedicated team of restorers, they will continue to play beautifully for decades to come. At The Piano Shop Bath, we always keep a good selection of thoroughly restored pre-war British and German pianos, both uprights and grands.
This 1911 Bechstein Model A grand has just come to us, and will head off to the workshops next week for a full and thorough restoration, which as well as including a full mechanical rebuild will see the gorgeous walnut case brought back to life. When restored, this Bechstein piano will be a piano for life for the serious pianist and a sound investment! Just a few taster photos are shown below… Feel free to call or email us with any queries relating to this piano (or any others), or visit our Bath showroom (open Tuesday – Sunday).
