Teaching Details
My first priority when teaching piano is for the pupil to have fun. I encourage pupils to dictate the material which we practice, with an aim to teach them the skills to play the music they love and simultaneously develop good technique, philosophy and an understanding of music theory.
I teach all ages with most of my pupils being children with whom I have developed good relationships, creating a friendly and inspiring atmosphere for lessons.
As well as playing piano, I also play accordion, guitar, bass and vibraphone, all of which are usually available at my home where I teach. This enables me to spend a small portion of each lesson accompanying my pupils, which is a great way for them to focus on playing with other people, improvising and developing rhythmical consistency.
