Teaching Details

I am a mature and experienced piano teacher and am establishing myself in Pontypool having moved here in 2016. I am a family person and have 3 children and 12 grand-children and my intention first and foremost is for my pupils to enjoy learning to play the piano. I have been teaching since I was 20 although did have a break for a different career. My methods are fairly traditional, using established teaching programmes working towards examinations if that is what the student wants to do. I generally have great relationships with young people and insist that the wish to learn comes from them and not the parents. If it is not fun then it just turns into torture in my experience and nobody enjoys that! As I have now taken early retirement I can also take on adults who can come for lessons week-day mornings. Every pupil must have a piano or a good quality keyboard on which to practise and be prepared to come weekly for a lesson. Any student wishing to take exams will need access to an acoustic or high spec electric piano. Young children can have very short lessons in the beginning. The price quoted is for tuition only. Books will need to be paid for separately. There are discounts available for more than 1 child in the same family and for adults able to come during the morning in the week. I will also travel locally to teach in your own home for a small additional charge. Well behaved parents are welcome to sit in on the lessons. 🙂
