Built in the 1980s and built to last the KG2D offers a fascinating insight into why Kawai grand pianos are increasingly well regarded. This is an excellent example of a Grand Piano that was built to be passed down through generations and we are lucky enough to currently have it for sale in our large piano showroom. At 5’10 in length the KG2D is a good size piano for the domestic environment, producing enough tone and volume to be a satisfying instrument but remaining compact enough to fit neatly into the space rather than overpower it. The KG2D is one of Kawai’s highly regarded earlier models and the build quality on offer here helps you to understand why Kawai became an obvious choice to build Steinway’s Boston range. At the Piano Shop Bath we are always impressed by the reliability and consistancy of the new Kawai Grands we have in our showroom but the KG2D model from the 1980s indicates that Kawai’s impressive standards have been gathering momentum for decades.
The tone on offer in this particular Grand piano is a pleasing fusion of clarity and strength, this is a powerful piano capable of a wide dynamic range. The action is extremely responsive and consistent which is exactly what you would expect from a Kawai Grand piano. We do see a lot of pianos come and go in our showroom but i feel sure that this is going to be a piano that someone falls in love with, its preloved status only adding to its already substantial character. For beginners and serious pianists alike this wonderful Grand piano is sure to inspire and delight for many years to come.
