Kirk Andrews
Kirk is a fine artist specialising in portraiture and creates portraits with charcoal, Indian ink, pastel and paint. His passion for music inspires his Music Icon art and he loves the way his work connects him with music and its stars. He is a UK based artist with a worldwide reach, working from his Studio and Art Gallery at the Red House Glass Cone in Stourbridge.
Kirk created his artwork ‘Rocketman’ from 100% recycled and reworked piano parts from January to April 2024. His vision for the face as a mosaic came to life as he handcut over 800 (1cm) cube blocks from the piano keys. Decorative fretcuts and wooden components were used for the glasses and also formed the fancy detail of the jacket, along with the use of some brass candle holders all cut by hand. The boa scarf is created using piano hammer components, and if you study the base of the microphone, you will see an inverted piano pedal.
