We are excited to have two Boston Upright pianos in our showroom at The Piano Shop Bath.
Manufactured by Kawai in Hamamatsu, Japan, Boston pianos are designed by Steinway and
were introduced in 1992. Utilising Kawai’s extremely high threshold for production quality,
Steinway have produced a piano that produces tonnes of performance at a competitive
price. By employing the unique craftsmanship and expertise that Steinway is renowned for,
Boston pianos can guarantee excellence in tone, touch, quality and performance from all
their pianos.
Every soundboard is made from Sitka Spruce, proven to be the most resonant material
available. Boston’s use of precisely tapered soundboards presents you with a soft, warm,
resonant tone.
The Boston upright pianos we have here at The Piano Shop Bath are presented with
excellent quality that will satisfy any player. The tall cabinet lets the sound resonate
throughout the room; this is combined with an extremely responsive action that offers a
light touch, giving full control of tricky or fast passages and with great clarity across all 88
keys. These pianos will particularly be appreciated by advanced players.
Boston pianos uses all wooden action parts whereas Kawai pianos prefer their carbon fibre
reinforced ABS Millennium III Action. Hammers in Boston pianos are even different to that
of Steinway hammers, and are tone regulated differently to Kawai pianos, even after being
assembled by the same technicians.
Having been granted the title Performance Edition of Steinway Pianos, Boston pianos are
highly respected in the piano industry and encourage all players to come and try them out.
