The digital pianos in Kawai’s CN range offer highly accurate piano touch and tone in a stylish, compact case, for a reasonable price. We like to keep at least two CN Series instruments in our showroom, our bestsellers being the CN24 and CN34.
Both instruments have Kawai’s extremely realistic ‘Responsive Hammer II’ keyboard action, which replicates the touch of an acoustic grand piano with outstanding accuracy. The Ivory Touch key surfaces complement the action well; the material copies the properties of real ivory in that the keys slightly absorb fingertip perspiration without becoming slippery.
The CN24 has 15 instrument sounds, including a beautiful piano sound painstakingly sampled from a top of the range Kawai EX concert grand. The CN24 allows the player to connect to a computer through MIDI, transpose into any key, play with a built-in metronome and also to record their playing, a useful aid to perfecting a piece. The touch weight – that is, how hard the keys must be struck to produce a note – may be adjusted to suit the player, perfect for children or beginners who are still building up their finger strength.
The CN24 is the perfect instrument for anyone from the beginner player to the accomplished pianist who needs a compact, reliable instrument with a faithful piano tone and touch, without the complication and added cost of extra features.
The CN34 has the same keyboard and ‘Responsive Hammer II’ action mechanism as the CN24, but with more extra features and a more sophisticated speaker system, which reproduces the beautifully sampled Kawai concert grand. The sound and feel of the instrument can be customized more than the CN24; with 324 instrument sounds, and the option to adjust touch weight, tuning and temperament. It has USB and MIDI outputs, making it very simple to connect to a computer and use studio software to add an extra creative dimension to your music making. The CN34 has sophisticated but user-friendly recording and playback features, making it simple and swift to transpose to any key, change instrument sounds and alter the instrument’s settings.
The CN34 is the perfect partner for the pianist who wants to expand the scope of their music making to include a computer, the teacher or ensemble player who needs to transpose at the touch of a button, or just the beginner who values a stunning piano sound and the option to expand their musical horizons in the future. And who hasn’t wished at one time or another for a really big church organ in their living room…?
