‘Small Modern’ or ‘Continental’ upright pianos are those without the bulky front legs of more traditional instruments, and have been the most popular case style in Britain since the 1960s. They take up less room and can look more modern or stylish than larger traditional uprights. The Kawai K15e is the only piano in the Kawai range with a ‘small modern’ style case, and is the entry level member of the K Series, though of course the quality of build and finish is to the usual high standards typified by Kawai pianos. The Kawai K15e’s stylish, compact case is available in Polished Mahogany and Gloss Black (pictured below).
Kawai’s medium-weight ‘Ultra Responsive’ action, as used in this piano, is suited well to young players requiring a lighter touch to develop their technical abilities but also to experienced players who prefer a lighter, more responsive action. The tone is very well rounded for a piano of this size and price, clear and precise but warm enough to give the full tone usually associated with a larger instrument. The practice pedal works well and is a very useful feature, and of course this instrument is built with the same meticulous care and attention as all Kawai pianos, and comes with their ten year guarantee.
