We truly curate which Yamaha pianos make it to our shop floor using the expert knowledge and passion of our piano technicians when choosing them. This piano has been well looked after and maintained; fully checked by our talented technicians and the components are of great quality and remain in really good condition. This Yamaha UX-3 piano stood out because it’s in such great condition – it’s a joy to play. It has a really good medium touch and a full tone. It also feels very consistent across the keyboard, and the quality of the components tells us that this has been a really well looked after piano.
The UX-3 piano was first introduced in Japan in the early 80’s as an upgrade of the U3. The UX series pianos are equipped with higher grade materials, and specially designed for professionals.
The UX-3 embodies features that grand pianos have and also use better material in the action parts and sound board.
Internally the bass strings are longer on the UX-3 model than the standard U3, even though the pianos are the same in height. Yamaha have achieved this by curving the bridge at the bottom of the piano. Due to the extra manufacturing costs, Yamaha stopped making pianos with the ‘X’ brace. Furthermore, the front panel is manufactured in 3 separate sections, allowing for an important air-gap to release higher tones to give greater presence to the player.
Scarcity value can increase the piano’s relative price therefore the UX-3 series is a little more expensive than the standard U3 model.
